Springfield Humane Society is seeking a full-time Animal Care Technician. Duties include cleaning dog and cat areas according to specific protocols, administering routine medications, taking care of both physical and mental health in animals, showing animals to the public and processing adoptions, dog training, bathing and grooming dogs and occasionally cats. This is a physically demanding position. Applicant must be in good physical health and able to lift at least 40 pounds, be able to walk and stand for long periods, and able to handle large fractious dogs. Applicant will be trained in shelter protocols for medicating, cleaning, training, etc. and must be able to follow these protocols as well as follow other directions. The ideal candidate will be extremely dependable, highly efficient and work well both independently and as part of a team. A combination of shifts including morning, evenings, weekends and holidays is required. This is a difficult job both emotionally and physically, however it can be very rewarding.
